On Sunday 27th, we went to the Canopée Library to perform a workshop on ecology and sustainability to Parisian children of all ages! The activity reached a dozen of children and was a resounding success!
The Médiathèque Canopée is a library located in Châtelet, at the heart of Paris. It boasts a very dynamic program of workshops, talks and activities of all types for citizens of all ages. Most of the activities are aimed at children and have a strong educational component, which aligns with the aims of Sustainability by Education.
It is there that a group of four instructors from SbE performed its newest workshop, titled “Ecology and Sustainability”. The activity was aimed at children of all ages and had the aim of introducing young audiences to the concepts of climate change, renewable energies and sustainable development.
The workshop encompassed such diverse activities as a drawing contest, an interactive visual presentation, a hands-on examination of a PV panel, a card game and many more. As always, with a strong emphasis on intractability and participation.
The workshop took place in the building’s dedicated “youth space” and lasted for about 90 minutes. It was a different experience from the workshops that we have previously performed in schools, but we are happy to say that it worked!
We want to thank wholeheartedly the Médiathèque Canopée for believing in us and inviting us to perform this workshop, and we hope to work with them again in the future. And also a big thanks to Najlae Bouhi, Soukayna Ahdida and Dyna Hafyane for collaborating with us in developing and executing the workshop! We thrive in these kinds of collaborations and we wouldn’t have been able to do these workshop without them!
All in all, Sustainability by Education Paris is more active than ever! We hope that this workshop makes us known to more people and brings in new collaborations. For the moment, we already have two workshops scheduled for June. Stay tuned!
